Photographer Thomas Nondh Jansen (1985, Bangkok) creates colorful still life & food photography. Since being adopted from Thailand and growing up in the Netherlands, ‘home’ is an important theme in his work. With a lot of humor, he transforms everyday objects into something new. In this way he wants to show us the (often hidden) beauty of daily life. In the summer of 2016, Thomas’ photographic children’s book De olifant die niet wist of hij verdwaald was, was published via Leopold Publishing. In this book, we follow the fantastic journey of a plastic baby elephant who is lost in the Dutch landscape.
Thomas his work was nominated for the 36th International Festival of Fashion, Photography and Accessories, Hyères in France in 2021 and the Eyes on Talent Photography Prize Paris in France in 2023.
Thomas shows us a mixture of personal projects and commissioned works for clients such as De Volkskrant, Volkskrant Magazine, NRC Handelsblad, DIE ZEIT, ZEIT Magazine, PS | Het Parool, De Correspondent, De Morgen Magazine, De Standaard, American Vintage, KesselsKramer, Natwerk, creative agency VandeJong, Just, Keramiekmuseum Princessehof, Kunstmuseum Den Haag, Stedelijk Museum Schiedam, CultuurSchakel, Ordinary Magazine, VPRO Gids and NEON. Thomas his work was exhibited in FOAM Amsterdam, Villa Noailles in Hyères, KK Outlet Londen, fotogalleri Vasli Souza in Malmö and was on display during Les Rencontres de la photographie d’Arles, Photoville New York and Unseen Photo Festival.
Thomas graduated from the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague in 2013. He teaches art at Kunstmuseum Den Haag, FOAM, het Nederlands Fotomuseum and Stedelijk Museum Alkmaar. In addition, he gives lectures and school visits via De Schrijverscentrale. Thomas lives with his wife Nelleke, daughter Jette and cat Sushi in a small rural village close to Amsterdam (NL).
