Thomas has also been writing his own teaching programs and implementing them in collaboration with various museums and organizations. A good example is a series of long-term Masterclasses by het Nederlands Fotomuseum Rotterdam, in which a group of adults are given a tour of the exhibition, learn more about photography and work together towards a mini-exhibition in the museum.
In collaboration with the author's organization De Schrijverscentrale, Thomas developed the program 'Stampen als een olifant', in which he reads from his own children's book and teaches children more about wonder, photography, elephants and making stories with photos. In collaboration with fellow teachers, Thomas developed a number of programs and lessons for the heritage program 'IK IN 010' in Rotterdam and commissioned by Kunstmuseum Den Haag he created two (online) photography workshops for children and youngsters.
